Pentax arrives this year with its new conception, the Pentax Optio 230 which is a special camera and entering with force a very competitive market! It was presented on the North American market on the 23/2/02. The Optio 230 delivers a maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200. You can also set it at a lower resolution of 1024 x 768, 640 x 480. The image ratio (width / height) on the Pentax Optio 230 has been set at 4:3, making a total of 1.9 mega pixels. The sensor of the Optio 230 is a CCD measuring only 1/2.7 " with a RGB color filter. Pentax included a digital zoom on the Optio 230 and also added an internal flash which is very handy to any cameras nowadays .

The normal focus range is 50 cm. The minimum shutter speed (min. exposition to light) on the Optio 230 is 4 seconds and the maximum shutter speed is 1/1500 seconds. Movie clips are also supported in this version which is always a useful function. The Pentax Optio 230 camera has an internal storage of 16 mb extendable with external storage with Compact Flash Type I. The LCD screen of the Optio 230 is measuring 1.6 ". A video out plug exists making it handy to watch pictures on your television.
